soap formulation uses moisture rich Olive Oil with Coconut and Palm Oils.
The Dry Skin formula soaps are also superfatted with extra
moisturizing agents and contain any of the following:

Green
Tea
Ylang
Ylang, Patchouli and Frankincense combine to create an exotic and sensual
scent; in fact, Ylang Ylang and Patchouli are reputed aphrodisiacs.
Along with these three Essential Oils, of which Patchouli is a
natural Antibiotic, Antiseptic, and Antifungal, the Essential Oils used in
Green Genes Green Tea soaps are: Grapefruit,
Bitter Orange, Petitgrain, Coriander, Laurel Berry.
This soap incorporates miraculous Green Tea with Chlorophyll and is
one of our Dry Skin Types formulas made with moisture rich Olive Oil with

Kelp
Straight
from the Sea with chunks of Kelp, Klamath Lake Blue Green Algae and
Chlorophyll. This combination along with the essential oils used creates a
crisp, clean scent. The
Essential Oils in Green Genes Kelp soaps are:
Juniper, Elemi, Frankincense, Laurel, Patchouli, Geranium, and

This soap falls into the Dry Skin Types formulas and is made from
moisture rich Olive Oil with fixed Coconut and Palm Oils and superfatted
with nourishing Shea Butter. Whether
your skin is sunburned, wind-burned, chapped, or has been exposed to
poison ivy, Green Genes Spicy Oatmeal is a soap you can count on to soothe
and heal your skin. The
Essential Oils used for this formula effectively make Spicy Oatmeal your
medicine chest in a bar soap. Here's
how ~ Palmarosa, Nutmeg, and Clove work to neutralize combination skin
types from greasy and oily to dry and disturbed, and any combination
imaginable. Nutmeg, Clove,
and Cinnamon are all Antiseptic and Antibiotic.
Clove adds an Analgesic while Nutmeg works on muscular aches and
pains. Cinnamon and Clove are

Frankincense. Green Genes
Flower Garden Soap will gently scrub your dirt away and help keep your
minor cuts and wounds clean with help from the Essential Oils of Geranium
and Lavender's antiseptic properties.
Lavender is a natural antibiotic promoting your skin's own ability
to heal itself faster. Being
one of Green Genes dry skin formulations, this soap is made of moisture
rich Olive Oil with fixed Coconut and Palm Oils and superfatted with Shea
Butter. Natural gentle scrubbers in the form of cornmeal, poppy
seeds, and oatmeal help wash away ground in soils.
Oatmeal and Marshmallow are demulcent - soothing, healing, and
softening your hands during each use.
Even frequent washings won’t irritate your skin.
Traditionally in herbal medicines, Marshmallow has been used
internally in capsule or tea form, and in many OTC medicines for cough and
cold. Marshmallow’s
external uses include salves and ointments for skin problems, skin ulcers,
and wounds. The root is
highly mucilaginous and is rich in sugars making MarshMallow very soothing
and softening. Widely used,
even in today's time, to calm inflamed mucus membranes, especially of the

Oily
and Acne Prone Skin Types
This
soap formulation (with the exception of Natural Peppermint) is not
superfatted with moisturizers and does not use Olive Oil.
Instead we use fixed Coconut and Palm Oils which are naturally more
drying and produce a larger, sudsier lather.
The addition of clays and or pumice adds to the drying as well as
exfoliating capabilities of our Oily and Acne Prone Skin type Soaps.
The
complexion bars in our Oily and Acne Prone Skin Types formulas include:
Desert, Lavender & Clay, Tea Tree with Pumice, and Natural
Peppermint (for dry & oily combination skin with acne) .

Lingering
Patchouli follows the Aromatic herbal burst in this Green Genes Oily and
Acne Prone Skin Types formula. All
soaps in this category are not superfatted with additional
moisturizers and do not contain moisture rich Olive Oil.
Instead Desert contains two Clays and Pumice, to exfoliate and dry.
An exceptionally high percentage of Coconut Oil is used for maximum
drying of oily skin, while
also producing a larger, sudsier lather. The Essential Oils used are:
Sage, Juniper, Basil, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Rosewood, and Pine.
Each of these essential oils has medicinal benefits, Juniper's and
Patchouli's stand above the rest. Juniper
Oil is a natural Antiseptic and Antifungal benefiting
disturbed and oily skin, especially useful for fighting acne and wet
eczema. Juniper is also a
mental and physical stimulant and helps with muscular aches and pains,

This soap falls into our Medicinal / Dry Skin Types category and is
a great choice for sensitive or disturbed skin when frequent washings are
needed, for instance, attending to deep wounds, cuts or abrasions.
Comfrey's makeup is probably its success in treating external
wounds and sores. Silicon,
potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen are all properties of Allantoin, which
is found in Comfrey. Allantoin
is a very healing substance because it promotes cell regeneration, even in
deep wounds and open sores. Along
with the comfrey leaves used, Calendula petals have been infused into the
Olive Oil strengthens their medicinal properties allowing them to fight a
wide spectrum of bacterial and fungal infections.
Juniper Oil
is a natural Antiseptic and Antifungal.
Some of the uses for this oil are beneficial to oily and disturbed

Soap
Base
- Moisturizing Soaps are made with a high percentage of Olive Oil and are
superfatted with rich nourishing oils.
Coconut and Palm Oils are added for their hardness and sudsy
lathering capabilities.
Drying Soaps contain only Coconut and Palm oils.
These oils are more naturally drying and make for harder bars.
Glycerin is produced during the saponification process and is
present in all handmade soaps.
Pure
Essential Oils
- Essential Oils are derived from plants and contain all of the beneficial
and therapeutic properties of the plant.
By comparison, fragrance oils are synthetically derived scents and
are more prone to induce an allergic reaction.
The Essential Oils were selected, first, based on their skin care
properties, and secondly, for their scent.
Complex blends of essential Oils were created for a well balanced
and interesting aroma profile.
Superfatted
Oils
- Superfatting is the process in which moisturizing oil is added to the
saponification reaction resulting in a free oil in the bar that remains on
your skin after bathing thus moisturizing your skin.
Oils such as Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, Jojoba, Sweet Almond, Kukui
Nut, Wheat Germ and Vitamin E,
all moisturize hydrate, heal, soothe, soften, nourish, hydrate, and
above all else are easily absorbed by the skin.
Jojoba Oil is also a humectant, promoting moisture retention by the
skin.
Herbs
- Herbs used are either grown in our garden or acquired from reputable
suppliers. They
may be steeped into teas, extracted into oils, and added in loose form for
texture, visual appeal and aroma.
Herbs such as Comfrey, Calendula, Peppermint, and Marshmallow Root
are all nourishing and healing to the skin.
Demulcent
- A demulcent is a softening and soothing agent often used to protect the
skin against irritation, also used to soothe an already inflamed or
abraded area.
A widely used demulcent is Oatmeal.
Exfoliative
- An exfoliative is any coarse materials added to the soap to provide
texture that aids in the removal of dirt and dead skin cells.
Cornmeal, Poppy seeds, Clays, Herbs and Oatmeal are all exfoliative,
although Oatmeal does double duty as a Demulcent as it also soothes and
heals.
Clays
- Clays are both stringent and exfoliating, clearing pores of blockages by
drawing out excess sebum.
Green Genes Soaps contain one or more of the following:
Green Clay, French Pink Clay, Bentonite Clay, White Clay, and
Pumice. Clays are incorporated into the soap bars especially formulated
for oily and acne prone skin types.
Colorings
- Only natural colorings are used by Green Genes Botanical Soap Company.
Annatto seed is used to color the soaps a creamy butter yellow.
Chlorophyll is used for all shades of green and Alkanet root is
used to achieve the purple / grey coloring used in our Flower Garden soap.
